The huia was one of New Zealand’s most revered native birds as it’s attractive black and white tail feathers were sought after by Maori and Europeans alike. Now the Huia is extinct and is represented often in the art of New Zealand as a symbol of National treasure and beauty.
This piece has been individually hand crafted from a piece of salvaged native timber and finished with black and white acrylic paint with a subtle green iridescence. It measures 44 x 8 x 1cm and is fitted with a tri-ring for easy hanging indoors. Not recommended for display in full sun or near heat, use a soft cloth to dust if necessary.
