The kākā parrot, Nestor meridionalis, is a native New Zealand bird characterized by its remarkable intelligence and social nature. Its plumage features a rich brownish-green color, with paler pink underparts, and a unique orange patch under its wings, which is often displayed during flight. The kākā is a medium sized parrot similar in appearance and character to the kea.
This carved rimu wing feather displays the rich colour and patterns characteristic of the kākā. Acrylic and iridescent paint has been used to replicate the birds unusual green-brown sheen.
Not suitable for display outdoors, in full sun or near heat. Piece measures 59 × 13 × 2cm and is fitted with atri-ring for easy hanging. Use a soft cloth to dust if necessary.
